• All children not enrolled in Catholic school should participate in Faith Formation classes on Sunday mornings beginning in 1st grade.

• Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion is a two-year program and begins in 1st grade. Children typically receive each of these sacraments in the spring of their 2nd grade year.

• Preparation for Confirmation is a two-year program and begins in 7th grade. Children typically receive the sacrament in the fall of their 9th grade year.

• Families whose children attend Catholic school should register 2nd graders for First Reconciliation and First Communion in the parish. They will receive their preparation in school. 8th graders need to complete the second year of their Confirmation preparation in class with the Faith Formation program.

The purpose of Faith Formation is to teach the truths of the Catholic faith, learn to apply them to our daily lives, and grow closer to God. While faith is first taught to a child in the home, the Faith Formation Program is here to help assist in the nurturing of that growing faith within each and every child.

• All children will participate in classes on Sunday mornings after the 9:00 am Mass.  Children begin preparation for Penance and Communion in grade 1.  A two year preparation program is required by the diocese.  

• Confirmation Preparation begins in grade 7 and ends in grade 8.  Youth enrolled in Catholic school must attend classes here at St. Edward in grade 8 to be confirmed in grade 9.  Confirmation will take place early in 9th grade.

•  Roman Catholic School families should register 2nd graders for First Penance and First Communion in the parish.  8th graders also need to register for immediate Confirmation preparation.​

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word takes place on Sunday mornings
during the 9:00 a.m. Mass.

• Children age 4 to 10 are invited to participate.
• There is no registration or fee for this program.
